The corporate world today is as cut throat as ever, but amongst the immense competition has emerged a community of female entrepreneurs who are all about supporting their fellow women in business. As a female business owner myself, I’ve found these organisations invaluable in the launch of Faeble Arts.
Whilst there are many more wonderful groups, here are three Dundee and Angus based women-first organisations to immerse yourself in and gain connections, advice and a real sense of community.
1. Women Ahead
Chaired by the lovely Delia, Women Ahead are a vibrant community of female professionals. For a nominal fee, you can join their membership ranks and access a wide network of connection opportunities, events and resources.
I had the pleasure of attending their Cocktails & Collaboration on Friday 30th of August and was treated to a wonderful evening with two very informative speakers and cocktails on tap! It doesn’t get much better than that.
Women Ahead are also affiliated with the Association of Scottish Business Women.
2. MIB/Mums in Business
Though Mums in Business does host in-person events, the real community lies online within their Facebook groups. With digital networking sessions and live webinars, MIB makes connecting with fellow women in business more accessible.
MIB also boasts a very low cost entry fee to their networking and resources.
3. egg Dundee
egg Dundee is a women only Facebook group where women can recommend local businesses – or ask for recommendations from others. The group has over 15,000 members, and is part of a larger network of egg groups.
You can promote your business once per month within the Facebook group. But if you sign up for one of the egg membership tiers you can also access further resources, including being listed in their business directory and gaining access to the official egg co-working space in Edinburgh.
Women In Angus is a Facebook group which does what it says on the tin – supports women in the Angus area. Though not primarily business focused, Women In Angus allows business posts on the 1st of each month.
They also host a variety events through members – such as a weekly bookclub, fortnightly sketchbook club, and even a monthly business coffee morning. Many of the events are centred in Arbroath and Montrose but members are based all over Angus.
